You Always Regret The Photos You Did Not Take

Inspired by catching moments, my boyfriend bought me a point and shoot camera about 7 years ago after he got some insurance money from his street bike being stolen. I took it everywhere. Eventually, of course, it died. So for Christmas that year (2015) he bought me my first DSLR camera, a Nikon D5300. Tickled with joy, I took a few intro to photography classes, a couple of lightroom editing classes and many, many hours on youtube learning how to shoot manual and capture the beauty around me.

I am so unbelievably grateful to have a job that I am truly passionate for, that allows me to raise my own babies, I get to spend my days with the kids doing fun things and my evenings with the my clients that have become my friends.

A house, two dogs and two babies, later…

My trusty rusty Nikon started to lose focus after about 200,000 shutter clicks! To the rescue, my darling boyfriend has upgraded me once again to a Canon EOS 6D.

And so my new journey begins.Nervous to disappoint, I never thought I would be able to handle the pressure of being a professional photographer. But the loving support from my family and friends finally persuaded me to take the leap.

Just like anything, good things take time to grow. Time to learn and build something I can be proud of. And now I am so happy to have a career that allows me to make my own schedule and raise my own babies! I am officially a full time photographer, with my own studio and my own clients that I am so happy to have relationships with. The thing is, my clients are not just clients. We’re friends. I want to know who you are, I want to watch your life grow and truly capture the moments that make you unique and special.

Another fun fact that I am pretty open about, in April 2022 when Jace was about 3 months old I attended a “mama for mama’s” fundraiser with some of my friends. There I ended up having 1 shot of tequilla and some spicy spinage dip and than headed home. Waking in the middle of the night with severe stomach pain that eventually lead to puking blood. I went to emerg where they ran a CT scan and found a large tumour in my stomach. From there, I had multiple test and biopsy’s where I was diagnosed with GAPPS syndrom, where 90% of my stomach was covered in Adenocarsonomic Polyps. So after finishing up my busy summer season, I had my complete stomach removed in Nov 2022. So I have spent the last 6 months (depending when you’re ready this lol) learning how to eat and manage my nutition and with a few hiccups,  I am happy to report I am doing very well. Photography has been a major part in my healing as I truly love what I do and I am so grateful for the life it has created for me being able to spend so much time raising my babies as well as socializing with my clients that have become nothing short of friends over the years. To say I am blessed is an understatement and something I get to remind myself of everyday. #nostomachforcancer !
