Oh hi! It’s me, Leah!
And you can bet your butt I am nervous. Overwhelmed. A little excited. And definitely looking for a snack as I start this first blog post about myself. It’s December 23rd, and I’m currently watching Four Christmases. After finishing all my editing for the year, what a relief! I thought to myself, “I have a free night!? What should I do?”
OHHHH, yes! I should commit to creating a blog and making a post every week for my 2025 season. Because I obviously don’t have anything else to do. LOL…
Truth be told, I’ve been procrastinating on this for a couple of seasons now. But this past year, I really dialed in my pricing and schedule, allowing me to avoid burnout (mostly). I’ve been able to fully dedicate myself to my clients, my family, and even a little to myself! So, while I joke that as a business owner, I’m overworked, overtired, and under-watered, I genuinely feel like I have the capacity to do this.
My goal is to answer all your questions—as both a client and a photographer—and to attract more of my dream clients. I already think I have the best clients in the world, but you can never have too many amazing people surrounding you.
So here I am, in year five of being a full-time lifestyle and wedding photographer, a mom of two, a partner of 13 years, a dog owner, a coffee drinker, and a self-proclaimed shopaholic. I’m just someone who wants to share stories and advice with anyone who feels like reading. Hopefully, I’ll attract some clients along the way!Photos by @smalltownalbertaphotography
Also my dear friend
I tend to listen to my heart and not my head with these things. Well to be honest, that’s also how I live my life, how I photograph my sessions, how I raise my kids. I listen to my gut and I go with it. I listen to my clients and I go with it. My kids want ice cream and than to go tobogganing, I go for it. Life is to short to be stuck in your head, over thinking and analyzing, the magic happens when you let go of your expectations and beliefs on how things should be and trust in whats happening right in front of you.
As a photographer, I do not like to go in with hours of recon, sleepless nights going over other photographers work at the venue. I get a good nights sleep, pick out a new outfit like I am an honour guest at your wedding myself (80% of feeling good is looking good right?). And more to that topic, I am honoured to be at your wedding or your place of work for your branding session or on the beach documenting your family session.. I want to show up as my best feeling self, for you. I want to invest in a new outfit to show you that I do care about your day and it IS a special event for me, worthy of an investment. So although I go in free spirited and stress free, I also come fully present, excited and full to be spending the day with you.

My Little Fam Jam
I started this business when my daughter was just six months old. Turns out, maternity leave doesn’t quite pay enough to support my lifestyle—so I began doing photography on the side to make some extra cash. At the time, I had worked as a dental assistant for ten years, and on weekends, I was an outdoor enthusiast and influencer with a decent camera and a blog. I captured stunning Rocky Mountain landscapes and a few product shots. It was surprisingly lucrative and fulfilling! I collaborated with companies like Hike Alberta, Expedia, Telus, and Thule, as well as lodges in and around Banff and Canmore. However, I must admit I haven’t hiked since my son was born three years ago. My adventures have become equally fulfilling, just in a different way now.
So, back to it! Let me introduce my family! I have a five-year-old daughter, Sophie, and a three-year-old son, Jace. We also have a Catahoula/Lab mix named Tato (or “Potato,” for short), and Elsa, whom we affectionately call my “inheritance.” We took her in about eight months ago when my grandparents moved to a home that doesn’t allow pets.
I have plenty more stories to share, and it seems that for this blog to really take off, I’ll need to open up even more! For now, I hope this gives you a glimpse of my life and encourages you to follow along on this new venture. I’m sure my personality will shine through in each post, revealing my “vibe,” as my clients like to say. If you’d like to see more of my life, including my wild children, feel free to follow me on Instagram @leahtylerszucki.photography.
As I wrap up my first blog post and embark on this magical journey, I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes—words to live by and an overall encouragement for all of you.
“Hold the vision, trust the process”
THANK YOU
For showing up for me today and reading this (L)
